Alison Brie (born Alison Brie Schermerhorn) is an American actress. She was born on December 29, 1982, to Joanne (née Brenner) and Charles Terry Schermerhorn. She grew up in the Los Angeles suburb of South Pasadena. Her interest in acting began at an early age when she started performing on stage at the Jewish Community Center in Southern California. After graduating from South Pasadena High School in 2001; Alison attended California Institute of the Arts where she received her BFA in Acting. During that time, Alison also studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland. Before breaking into television, she worked as a clown and performed in local theater. One of Brie's first onscreen roles was on Hannah Montana in 2006. She was chosen for the role of Trudy Campbell in Mad Men in 2007 and also starred in the web series My Alibi in 2008. In 2009 she was offered the role of Annie Edison on Community. She was on the show for six seasons during which she also appeared in several films including "The Lego Movie" and "Sleeping With Other People." After the series ended in 2015 she went on to star as Ruth Wilder on the Netflix series "GLOW" and made her directorial debut with the season 3 episode "Hollywood Homecoming". In 2020, she wrote, produced, and starred in the film "Horse Girl". She began datingDave Franco in 2011 and the two were married on March 13, 2017. She would work with her husband on the films "The Disaster Artist", The Little Hours, and Franco's directorial debut The Rental.

  • She was one of the original cast members in the world premiere of The Peach Blossom Fan, performed as the inaugural theater production at Disney's REDCAT Theater in Downtown LA.
