“
Are you crying? You cry when I tell you to cry. So reabsorb that disgusting droplet of salt and bad choices back into your doughy body and then call your mother to see if you could be reabsorbed into her doughy body or so help me God I will take that tear, I will freeze it and I will stab you in the eye with it you waste of a soul shaped hole forgotten by God.
”

Matt Lundergard 2
Portrayed by Jason Mantzoukas.
Matt Lundergard was a director at a local Greendale stage company. He claimed to at some point to have directed both Donnie and Mark Wahlberg. He personally cast Annie Edison and Ben Chang in his latest production but they had trouble getting use to his abusive directing style. He defended his actions by claiming it was to coax brilliant performances out of his actors whom he believed to have potential. His first appearance was in the Season Six episode "Queer Studies & Advanced Waxing". He was portrayed by actor/comedian Jason Mantzoukas.

Character history[]

In the Fall of 2014, Matt held an open auditions for a stage adaption of the 1980's classic movie "The Karate Kid". After auditioning several actors he saw potential in Ben Chang and his companion Annie Edison. At their first rehearsal Matt praised Annie but was less impressed with Chang's performance. He stopped them at one point and took a tool box prop and kicked it. He then had Chang repeat the line but was still unsatisfied. When Chang was on the verge of tears it only infuriated Lundergard more. Matt went on a lengthy rant insulting Chang and demanding he work on improving his performance instead of crying. He then became calm and asked the two do the scene once more.

Sometime later Matt stopped Chang and Annie during their performance of the play's floor sanding scene to add his input. He poured his coffee on Chang's head before launching into yet another critical tongue lashing. He told Chang that while he was furious at his poor performance he would never get physically abusive towards him. This was because he held his acting ability in such low regard he couldn't muster enough energy to do this. Annie finally had enough of the abuse and threatened to quit if Matt didn't stop treating Chang poorly. Matt was unfazed by her ultimatum and set the record straight as to why he hired her. It had nothing to do with her acting skills it was because she fit the wardrobe they had already.

It was actually Chang that Matt believed had the true talent due to the inherent sadness inside of him. The only reason he was so abusive towards him was to coax that emotion out of him. Despite his treatment, Chang elected to stay and continued to endure more torturous rehearsals. Matt fired Annie and redoubled his efforts in honing Chang's performance. He replaced Annie's part with her arch rival Annie Kim. When the play finally debuted Matt's directing tactics proved effective as Chang gave a performance that was met with overwhelming praise from the audience. Afterwards, Matt joined his actors for a private cast party to celebrate their success ("Queer Studies & Advanced Waxing").
