“
If you don't like my song, you don't have to listen to it, Britta, alright? I'm an artist, and I write what I feel, and I feel that you suck.
”
— Vaughn reacting to Britta's criticism of the song

In the study group's first year at Greendale, Britta had a brief relationship with Vaughn Miller. It ended after he discovered that she let a love poem he wrote for her be seen by the study group. Humiliated, he angrily ended things between them and sometime later wrote a reggae style song with his band about Britta. Entitled "Gettin' Rid of Britta", it became a huge hit on the college campus much to his ex-girlfriend's chagrin. What made it worse was that her fellow study group member Pierce Hawthorne was now a part of the band and participating in the song's performance. "Gettin' Rid of Britta" was first heard in the Season One episode "Home Economics".

Pierce, in Investigative Journalism, auditions to be a part of the "cool" study group by performing this song to Starburns.

The song (extended version)[]

Lyrics:

I'm just gonna, I'm a take this time to speak from the heart
I'm just gonna lay it down how I feel
This one's for you

Saying goodbye to Britta
Was the hardest thing to do
But when someone's a bitch and a liar
There ain't nothing left to woo.

I'm getting rid of Britta (she's gotta go)
I'm getting rid of the B
(She's a no good B)
I'm getting rid of Britta
I'm getting rid of the B
(She's a GDB)

Take it Pierce
(What? What? What? Hell yes!)

I didn't know when I saw her blonde hair
That she could ever be that way
So tiny and small, she seemed to have it all
But she'd made me say "Bitch, hey!"
(That ain't cool)

I'm getting rid of Britta
I'm getting rid of the B
(She's a no good B)
I'm getting rid of Britta
I'm getting rid of the B
(She's a GDB)

Come on!
One more time for me, Pierce.
Ha!
Say it ain't so!
It isn't not like I would ever hit her
But I would sell her to the highest bidder
She bummed me out, she bruised my soul
She lied to my heart she left me less than whole

I'm getting rid of Britta
I'm getting rid of the B
(She's a no good B)
I'm getting rid of Britta (It's not healthy, man)
I'm getting rid of the B
(She's a GDB)

Britta's a B
Not a C
Britta's a B
(Just speakin' the truth here)
Britta's a B
