Jesus is a hitchhiker Britta and Shirley encountered in the study group's third year at Greendale. His cheerful and friendly disposition at first amuses the pair until they discover it masks a more disturbing personality underneath. His first and so far only appearance was in the Season Three episode "Studies in Modern Movement". He is portrayed by actor/comedian Brendan Hunt.
In the study group's junior year at school, Shirley and Britta are helping Annie move from her old place above Dildopolis to Troy and Abed's apartment. Shirley expresses concern over Annie moving in with two men which annoys Britta. While delivering the rest of Annie's personal effects to her new home, Britta decides to teach her friend a lesson on being too close minded. On the drive over, she decides to pick up a suspicious hitchhiker to prove how one shouldn't be too judgmental. Her plan backfires when the hitchhiker seems to be a devout Christian. Pleased by this, Shirley questions him about his faith thinking she found herself an ally against Britta's progressive opinions. However, he then reveals his name to be "Jesus" and describes himself to be the son of God. An amused Britta gets "Jesus" to reveal his stance on marijuana which he feels should be legal. Encouraged by Britta, Jesus then plays his guitar and sings a song proclaiming his lover for marijuana...and drinking human blood. The two women are immediately disturbed by the lyrics and then become angry when he tries to sing a song about "race mixing" and "why you shouldn't do it". In unison Shirley and Britta yell at Jesus to get out of the car. He quickly exits the vehicle as the two women silently exchange apologizes for what just happened.
