In the study group's first year at Greendale together, Britta and Troy were secretly taking dance classes. Once their friends found out, everyone was invited to a dance recital they were both participating in. After her performance, Abed told Britta he would like to tap dance like her but seemingly lost interest when she told him he should take classes. After everyone left the auditorium, Abed started tap dancing skillfully on stage as the song Merry Happy played in the background. It was first heard in the Season One episode "Interpretive Dance". |

Trivia[]
Song history[]
Merry Happy is the fifth single from British singer-songwriter Kate Nash's album, "Made of Bricks". In an attempt to boost sales of the single in England, a special promotion was held where each copy was printed with a number from 1 to 1000. The fan who bought a selected number would win the chance to have Kate Nash personalize the album for them. Despite the extra efforts at promoting the song it was not commercially successful in the UK Singles Charts peaking at #116. It enjoyed better success internationally, particularly in the United States and Canada. Overseas the song charted on the Bubbling Under chart at #12 while concurrently reaching #97 on the Pop 100. |
Danny Pudi[]
In an interview with the AV Club, actor Danny Pudi mentioned dancing has been a part of his life since he was very young. At age 5 he learned traditional Polish folk dancing and also studied various forms of dance in college at his alma mater Marquette University. |
Other notable appearances[]
Besides "Community", the song was used in advertisements for the film "Happy-Go-Lucky" and was heard in the background during a scene in the movie "I Really Hate My Job". |
