“
We are not alone 'cause when you cut down to the bone, we're really not so different after all
”
Karla DeVito

In his first year at Greendale, Britta reunited with an ex-anarchist friend of hers and the two spent the night drinking and reminiscing. While inebriated she called Jeff's cell phone and left him a drunken message with overt "B.C.I" ( Booty Call Implications). At first Jeff was amused by the message and teased Britta mercilessly about it. However, he soon realized that she was humiliated and embarrassed. Abed suggests to Jeff that in order to restore the balance between them he would have to drunk dial her as well. The two met up in his dorm room to enact the plan and as they both got drunk, a montage of their activities played out set to the song "We Are Not Alone" by Karla DeVito. The song was first heard in the Season One episode "Communication Studies".

The song and lyrics[]

[]

Things look clear in black and white
The living color tends to dye our sight
Like dynamite
Just imagine my surprise
When I looked into your eyes and saw
Your disguise
If we dare expose our hearts
Just to feel the purest parts
That's when strange sensations start to grow
We are not alone
Find out when your cover's blown
There'll be somebody there to break your fall
We are not alone
'Cause when you cut down to the bone
We're really not so different after all
After all...

Homage[]

The drunk antics of Jeff and Abed is yet another direct homage to the classic 1985 John Hughes movie "The Breakfast Club". This references the scene in where the students smoke John Bender's stash of marijuana and then dance to the same song "We Are Not Alone". Jeff, Abed and the pizza delivery guy even do the "poodle" line dance.
