Character history

A peaceful day in the country of India was disturbed when the forces of the terrorist organization known as COBRA™ converged on the Taj Mahal. Ground troops commanded by the villainous Destro marched towards the target while he approached from the sky leading a squadron of Rattler's. Destro ordered his soldiers to attack and launched a missile at the palace. It was unexpectedly intercepted by a rocket fired by the just arrived G.I. JOE™ Team. Assigned to this mission was Wingman and his squad Tight Ship, Buzzkill and Three Kids. He provided air support using the Wingjet™ pack while his team was on the ground engaging the enemy troops. He became embarrassed when his subordinates began disrespecting the commanding officer Flint. He flew to their location so he could reprimand them in person for not being more focused on the task at hand.

Buzzkill challenged Wingman to show them how it was done and he did so by taking out Destro's Rattler. The enemy was forced to eject and Flint pointed out to Wingman that Destro was escaping. Wingman told him that wouldn't happen and proceeded to shoot out Destro's parachute. The other Joes watched in horror as Destro plummeted to the ground and died. Wingman tried to get his comrades to shout "Yo Joe!" with him but they were all to stunned by what just happened. In the aftermath, Wingman and his squad was charged with violence, mature language and conduct unbecoming of a G.I. JOE™. When they returned to base they were all brought before a tribunal to answer those charges.

The disciplinary committee was led by Duke, Flint and Scarlett who demanded Wingman and his squad explain themselves. Wingman argued that what he did wasn't a crime since they are fighting a ruthless organization trying to take over the world. He added that if they didn't start killing the enemy they might as well start killing themselves. The tribunal didn't buy his excuse and locked Wingman and his squad in the brig where they found themselves surrounded by Joe rejects. One of those misfits introduced himself as "Fourth Wall". He suggested to Wingman and his crew that the world was actually a syndicated children's cartoon. Due to evidence he uncovered on a recent mission, Fourth Wall believed there to be a higher reality as well.
